Developer Treyarch Studios and publisher Activision have confirmed that Nuketown, one of the series’ most iconic multiplayer maps, will be available to play in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 from November 20. The next entry in the series is set to launch on November 14 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but it looks like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 players won’t be waiting long to jump back into one of the franchise’s most beloved maps.
Call of Duty fans had the chance to go hands-on with Black Ops 7 earlier this month thanks to an open beta playtest across all platforms. Overall, reception to the next entry in the series was positive, but the standard complaints and requests remained prevalent. The most notable of these complaints revolved around skill-based matchmaking and persistent lobbies, something players have been rallying to get removed for over five years now. After campaigning for their removal for so long, it came as a huge surprise when Treyarch Studios announced shortly after the beta that it would be returning to a traditional matchmaking system for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and getting rid of disbanding lobbies.
Nuketown Comes to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on November 20
Earlier this month, Treyarch teased the return of Nuketown in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. While the studio wouldn’t specify exactly when the map would return, it did state that it would be shortly after the game’s launch, which is set for November 14. Now, alongside a preview of the Season 1 roadmap, the studio has confirmed that Nuketown 2025 (the version from 2012’s Black Ops 2) will be released on November 20, almost one week after Black Ops 7‘s release.
Treyarch has also given fans a sneak peek into the very first season of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. While the release date for the major update still remains a mystery, the studio has revealed that it will include a boatload of new and returning maps. Fans of the iconic Black Ops 2 will be pleased to know that both Standoff and Meltdown will return with Season 1, as well as some brand-new maps: Fate, Utopia, Odysseus, and Yakei. As for weapons, modes, cosmetic items, and any other new content, fans will have to wait a little bit longer to see what else the game’s first season has in store. With that being said, Treyarch did reveal that there will be seven new weapons for Season 1.
The studio also confirmed three new Zombies maps for Black Ops 7 Season 1, two of which will be Survival maps. Astra Malorum will be a new round-based map for the game’s first season, which will be joined by the Survival map Exit 115. A second Survival map, known as Zarya Cosmodrome, will also be coming in Season 1, but not until the mid-season update. Treyarch also confirmed that all of the seasonal Field Upgrades and Ammo Mods featured in Black Ops 6 will make their way into Black Ops 7 with its first season.
