StarHub becomes launch partner for Premier League’s new PL+ app in Singapore

StarHub is becoming the launch partner for the Premier League’s new PL+ app in Singapore, as the telco looks to strengthen its hold on local football streaming ahead of the upcoming season.

Alongside the announcement, StarHub is also introducing a new StarHub Premier+ Annual Pass from 1 June, priced at S$238 for existing StarHub customers. Non-StarHub customers, on the other hand, will pay S$380 for the same 12-month access.

What is the PL+ app?

The PL+ app allows subscribers to access matches across up to five devices with support for two simultaneous streams, making it possible to watch two different ongoing matches on two difference devices.

There are also a handful of interactive features built into the platform, including watch-party sharing, real-time match statistics, interactive timelines and “start over” playback controls if you join a match halfway through. StarHub also says PL+ supports multi-angle and multi-view viewing modes, although it remains unclear how extensively those features will be implemented across every fixture.

At first glance, this might just look like another Premier League subscription refresh. But the more interesting part is actually how aggressively StarHub is pricing itself against the Premier League’s own direct-to-consumer PL+ plans.
