Battlefield 6 has quietly nerfed XP bot farming lobbies in a new update, fulfilling a promise made to the game’s community last week. The new Battlefield 6 update brings some big changes to how XP is awarded in certain Portal lobbies.
Since launch, some players have been using Battlefield 6‘s Portal mode to join lobbies filled with bots, killing them easily to level up weapons and complete challenges rapidly. While this is technically allowed, it wasn’t exactly what Battlefield Studios was intending Portal to be used for. So last week, the developer confirmed plans to nerf these XP bot farming lobbies.
Battlefield 6 Stealthily Nerfs Bot Farming XP Lobbies
The developer certainly hasn’t wasted any time – a new update quietly pushed to Battlefield 6 has removed Mastery XP and challenge completion from any Portal lobby with bots enabled. This change should essentially kill Battlefield 6 bot lobbies in their tracks, meaning players will have to return to normal matchmaking to continue ranking up their weapons.
The existence of these XP farming lobbies highlighted the slow progression in Battlefield 6. These lobbies were intended as a community solution to this prominent problem. With them now gone, it has the potential to be even worse for players. When it announced plans to remove the bot farming XP lobbies, Battlefield Studios confirmed that Battlefield 6 will soon increase progression speeds, so hopefully this change will come sooner rather than later.
The nature of trying to find balance in all areas of a game like Battlefield 6 is that changes will arrive extremely quickly. This has already been seen in some early updates to the game, such as the fan-requested changes to Battlefield 6‘s Conquest mode tickets. The developer made a controversial change, players complained, and it was swiftly reverted. Players should expect to see more of this kind of thing as Battlefield Studios continues to refine Battlefield 6.
