Former People’s Action Party (PAP) MP Ong Ah Heng died at the age of 84 on Tuesday (5 May).

Ong was fondly known as the “Kopitiam MP” for his close relationships with workers.

He joined the PAP in 1964 and acted as election agent to founding prime minister Lee Kuan Yew in the 1976, 1980, 1988 and 1991 general elections, according to the Straits Times.
