iPhone memory costs could rise sharply in 2027



Apple could face a sharp increase in iPhone memory costs next year, as supply pressures intensify across the entire industry.

A recent analysis by JPMorgan suggests memory could account for as much as 45% of an iPhone’s component costs by next year, up from just around 10% today. Counterpoint Research expects rising memory prices to drag down smartphone shipments this year.

Apple has traditionally enjoyed a pricing advantage thanks to its massive scale of procurement. It has traditionally been one of the largest memory buyers in the industry. However, that edge is narrowing as AI-driven companies like NVIDIA place even larger orders and commit billions in upfront payments to secure supply, tightening availability for other players.
