The base model Mac mini is out of stock in Singapore and globally

The ongoing memory chip shortage is starting to impact Apple. How? The base model of the Mac mini now out of stock globally.

According to 9to5Mac, the entry-level Mac mini (256GB) is currently unavailable across Apple’s online store and several third-party retailers, including Amazon. The shortage appears to affect all base configurations, regardless of RAM options. Higher storage variants aren’t immune either. The 512GB variant of the M4 Mac mini is also reportedly facing delivery delays of at least six weeks.

A quick check of the Apple Store in Singapore shows a similar situation. The base model is unavailable for both delivery and in-store pickup across all three Apple Store locations. At the time of publishing, configurations with larger storage capacities are still available, but pickup and delivery dates start from at least 4 June.

The broader supply crunch is not likely to ease anytime soon. SK Group’s chairman has warned that memory shortages could persist until 2030, largely due to suppliers prioritising high-bandwidth memory (HBM) for AI data centres. This shift has reduced the production of consumer-grade memory, tightening supply and driving up prices.

The ongoing memory shortage will likely affect the Mac mini refresh that’s expected to come in the second half of the year. There are whispers that Apple might have to delay that launch if the shortage continues to worsen.
