Alienware’s latest 27-inch QD-OLED monitor with 240Hz refresh rate is less than S0

Alienware just launched a tantalising gaming monitor for users with entry-level or mid-range gaming rigs.

Alienware 27 240Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor

At S$499, the Alienware 27 240Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor (AW2726DM) combines QD-OLED panel quality with a maximum 240Hz refresh rate, on top of 0.03ms response times, colour coverage of 99% (DCI-P3), and TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort certification for (3-stars).

To take full advantage of its 240Hz refresh rate, the monitor has one DisplayPort 1.4 (HDCP 1.4 and HDCP 2.3). If you only need 120Hz, it still has two HDMI 2.1 ports. Beyond these ports, the monitor also has an Audio Headphone-Out port.

The only catch (and why it’s below S$500) is the 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution panel and the lack of USB ports. While it’s not a 4K-resolution monitor, Alienware kept the sacrifice to a minimum by ensuring it supports gaming rigs across all tiers.

That is made clear by the monitor’s GPU support for variable refresh rates and screen-tearing mitigation. AW2726DM supports both AMD FreeSync Premium and VESA AdaptiveSync, making it compatible with graphics cards across different brands.

Other perks include tilting (-5° to 21°), swivelling (-360° to 360°), and pivoting (-90° to + 90°) to cover basic ergonomic needs, and it also supports VESA mounting (100 x 100mm). The panel also comes with its own stand, power cable, and one HDMI cable, allowing users to set up quickly and start playing.

So, is this gaming monitor good?

If you don’t require 4K resolution or your gaming rig is on the lower end of the scale, the AW2726DM offers a tidy compromise between its price and features.

Typical OLED-adjacent gaming monitors with full 4K resolution and refresh rates beyond 120Hz can cost anywhere from 2x to 5x more, especially if they support additional features like HDMI eARC, a built-in USB hub, or wireless connectivity.

If your priority is colour accuracy and smooth-looking gameplay from a reputed brand that wouldn’t drain your bank account, the Alienware 27 240Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor tries to fill that demand.

It’s now available on Dell’s Singapore online store (S$499).
