Review | Regent Bali Canggu brings coastal luxury to the island’s trendiest beach enclave

Late last year, after being acquired by IHG Hotels & Resorts in 2018, Regent Hotels & Resorts made its debut in Indonesia with Regent Bali Canggu. Located right on the beach and offering unobstructed views of the Indian Ocean, the resort is a welcome addition to Canggu’s hospitality scene.

Even though it is located right in the middle of all the action, Regent Bali Canggu stands out for the level of privacy it provides. If you’re staying in one of its 150 elegant suites and villas, you will hardly notice the hordes of surfers hitting the shore during the day and beachgoers taking selfies at sunset.

Beach House – the property’s waterfront restaurant and bar that’s always buzzing with in-house and outside guests – is a great spot for those who want to see and be seen. If you’re into people watching, order a drink from one of the lounge sofas overlooking the sea before indulging in grilled meats and seafood or tasty tacos on Taco Tuesday.

Those whose idea of a good time is total relaxation, however, needn’t worry. The hotel’s secluded living quarters are quiet sanctuaries with garden or sea views and easy access to one of its nine pools. The property offers plenty of lavish accommodation, from one-bedroom beachfront villas to sprawling two-bedroom penthouses with private pools. Even the entry-level studio suites are spacious and luxurious, with large bathrooms and Balinese-inspired furniture made of natural materials such as teak.
