At PAX East, Wizards of the Coast has revealed an unannounced Secret Lair full of Magic’s most annoying cards
Wizards of the Coast releases so many new Magic: The Gathering products that it can be hard to keep up. Not only are we getting seven new sets of cards in 2026, but the company’s Secret Lair sub-brand is pumping out experimental drops and decks faster than ever. Recent leaks suggest that Wizards is preparing to announce a new goblin-themed Commander deck and a second Deadpool drop through Secret Lair. Now, we’re getting a look at another unannounced Secret Lair, and this one may be the most divisive yet.
A new “So Salty” Secret Lair is on display at PAX East this weekend and was revealed on Instagram by an attendee. The name speaks for itself. This drop is full of cards that will likely infuriate anyone you play against, and each is adorned with cool new ’80s heavy-metal poster-style art. That includes Winter Orb, which limits all players to only untap one land per turn.
Another infuriating card here is Narset, Partner of Veils, a Planeswalker who stops everyone from drawing more than one card per turn. However, the most annoying (and expensive) card in the pack is likely Expropriate, which gives your opponents the choice between giving you extra turns or letting you steal their stuff.
Meanwhile, here’s a quick rundown of all the included cards and their current price on the resale market:
- Winter Orb — $12
- Worst Fears — $2
- Narset, Partner of Veils — less than $1
- Scrawling Crawler — $8
- Expropriate — $15
Also, there’s a very cool-looking Forest, which has no real value outside its unique art.
Playing any of these cards against your friends at Commander night will probably elicit a round of groans. (I personally refuse to play against Winter Orb, but that’s just me.) Then again, maybe this badass new art will earn you a bit more cred as you shut down your opponents in the meanest way possible.
