Invincible Fans Debate Season 4 Animation Errors

Warning! Spoilers for Invincible on Prime Video follow.

Fans of Prime Video’s Invincible have started debating the significance of animation errors after spotting a mistake in Season 4 that made Mark Grayson look a little too much like his dad, Omni-Man.

The TV adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s original comic book series’ fourth season has drawn praise for how it’s upped the ante as hero Mark Grayson fights off the fearsome Viltrum Empire. Each intergalactic battle has pulled in more attention than the last, but as fight scenes with major players like Grand Regent Thragg have demanded more intricate visuals, fans are unsure whether to laugh or cringe after a few eagle-eyed viewers spotted some…bizarre blemishes.

The most egregious instance can be caught in a split-second moment during the Season 4 episode Don’t Do Anything Rash, which premiered April 15. Just as Thragg speeds off with Thaedus’ decapitated head, Mark’s head morphs into his father’s, minus the mustache.

“I’m pretty sure it’s actually Nolan’s face just without the mustache,” one Reddit user pointed out. “Either way how did this slip through.”

While Mark’s new look closely resembles his father’s shaved face, others have pointed out that he also happens to look like his mother Debbie’s boyfriend, Paul. On one hand, the moment only shows up for a few frames of footage and is far from the most important thing happening in the story at this moment, but on the other hand, fans are finding it hard not to poke fun at it.

Invincible will air its Season 4 finale, Don’t Leave Me Hanging Here, this Wednesday, April 22. Animation errors aside, we here at IGN have enjoyed most of what the latest batch of episodes has had to offer. We called last week’s episode a “Masterpiece” in our 10/10 review, calling it the show’s strongest yet.
