F1 The Movie, starring Brad Pitt, will stream on Apple TV on 12 December

Are you having the post-Singapore Grand Prix blues, Brad Pitt might just have the fix. His Formula 1 film, F1, will start streaming on Apple TV from 12 December 2025.

Directed by Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinki, F1 stars Brad as Sonny Hayes, a retired driver pulled back into the high-speed world of Formula 1. What’s unique about the movie was that it was shot during actual Grand Prix weekends – including scenes filmed on live tracks – with real F1 teams like Mercedes and Red Bull lending their cars and crew for authenticity.

After its cinema run earlier this year, F1 went on to gross over US$600 million globally, making it one of the most successful sports dramas in recent memory. I’ve not watched it, but reviewers have generally praised its mix of adrenaline, drama and surprisingly grounded human moments (and yes, I’m sure a few well-timed shirtless Brad scenes didn’t hurt its marketing either).

The film’s streaming arrival also coincides with Apple’s quiet rebrand of its streaming platform – Apple TV+ has now been folded into the simpler Apple TV name.
