Donald Trump, who is a permanent chairman of the board, said that the U.S. will contribute US$10 billion (S$12.7 billion). With its first focus on rebuilding Gaza, plans call for 12,000 police and 20,000 soldiers from the newly launched International Stabilisation Force to oversee the process and ensure security. Nine countries have also pledged US$7 billion (S$8.8 billion) to the reconstruction experiment. They are Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, UAE, Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and Kuwait. The members of the board currently consist of Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Egypt, El Salvador, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kuwait, Mongolia, Morocco, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. However, the Vatican has declined the invitation to join, citing the lack of Palestinian voice as one of its reasons. It also expressed concern that the board would be chaired for life by a single individual (Trump), while other countries will need to pay a US$1 billion membership fee after their “trial period” of three years expire.
