A new leak indicates that a future Pokemon remake game will include MMO elements, and allow players to access both Hoenn and Sinnoh regions. Pokemon fans have been asking for multiplayer and MMO features for years, and this might be what they’ve been hoping for.
Very few core Pokemon games have included multiplayer components, to the chagrin of some fans. While competing in Pokemon battles has always been an option, the ability to adventure with other players has been sorely lacking in the franchise. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet helped to change this by allowing multiple Pokemon trainers to adventure together, but this new project could take things even further.
Pokemon Leak Indicates Remake MMO In the Works
Now, a leak from CentroLeaks indicates that a multi-region Pokemon remake game is in the works, referred to internally as Seed, that will include MMO elements. According to the post, the world will be an open one, allowing players to “walk from Sinnoh to Hoenn.” The leakers allege that the Seed project is prototyping an online game “playable by multiple people” set in a region connecting Hoenn and Sinnoh. A later tweet from the same leaker indicates that the MMO may cover the entirety of the Japanese regions of Pokemon, so Kanto and Johto from Pokemon Red and Blue, and Pokemon Gold and Silver, respectively, are likely to be a part of the game.
While this is news that many fans are already excited by, players likely shouldn’t expect to see this game release anytime soon. The leaker indicates that the game is in development for Switch 2, so it should release during the console’s lifecycle. However, it’s referred to as a “next-gen” game, and will likely follow the next mainline franchise entry after Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which is currently being referred to as Pokemon Wind and Waves. A game encompassing so many regions would certainly require considerable development time, as well. Even in the unlikely event that the games release on an annual basis starting with Pokemon Legends: Z-A in 2025, players may not want to get their hopes up about playing this game any earlier than late 2027.
While players are very intrigued by this new information, unfortunately for Game Freak and Nintendo, it’s far from the only recent leak. Pokemon Legends: Z-A has leaked online prior to the game’s official release, and many alleged details regarding the first Gen 10 Pokemon game have been shared.
