Elon Musk’s AI tool Grok came under increasing criticism on Monday (5 Jan) after it was found to be generating sexualised deepfakes of women and minors. The backlash drew responses from multiple countries, with the European Union speaking out and Britain warning that it may launch an investigation.
The criticism followed the recent rollout of an “edit image” feature on Grok. The function allows users to alter images online using text prompts, including instructions such as “put her in a bikini” or “remove her clothes”.
