Former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak has been found guilty of four charges of abuse of power, the Malaysian High Court ruled on Dec. 26. He was also found guilty on 21 charges of money laundering, comprising five charges of using proceeds of illegal activities, seven charges of transferring proceeds of illegal activity, and nine charges of receiving proceeds of illegal activities. While the full sentencing has not yet been delivered, the new charges could see him face maximum jail terms of between 15 and 20 years on each charge, as well as fines of up to five times the value of the alleged misappropriations, according to Reuters. This will be on top of his ongoing six-year sentence in prison for a separate conviction in the SRC International case, for which he initially received a 12-year sentence.
