Helldivers 2 Player Somehow Avoids Death In a Hilariously Surprising Way

After getting launched by an enemy, a Helldivers 2 player discovers a completely ridiculous way to completely cheat death and avoid any sort of fall damage. It’s been a long road for Helldivers 2 after releasing at the beginning of 2024, the game has been through a lot of highs and lows from a huge launch, review bombings, various content updates, and even release on the Xbox. Developer Arrowhead Game Studios has even been addressing various technical issues, including finding a way to reduce the ever expanding file size.

Even with a constant stream of new content, part of the appeal of Helldivers 2 for players is how chaotic and random matches can be at any given time. Every drop into enemy territory feels unique as players are free to tackle the map’s conditions and tasks at their own pace, while attempting to hold off the various Helldivers 2‘s enemy factions before attempting to extract safely. Sometimes, players will need to stay sharp and quickly think on their feet, like one user who should have seen a respawn screen.

Helldivers 2: All Warbonds, Ranked

Here are all of the Warbonds in Helldivers 2, ranked according to practicality to help players figure out which ones to get first.

Helldivers 2 Player Avoids Lethal Fall Damage

On the Helldivers 2 subreddit, a user named Late-Safe-8083 posted a video showing how they managed to avoid death even after being launched sky-high into the air. While fighting the terminids inside a Helldivers 2 Exosuit, the player is effectively launched out of it after the mech takes lethal damage. Under normal circumstances, the height that they’re launched should have resulted in massive fall damage, and likely death.

However, right before hitting the ground, Late-Safe-8083 quickly opens their emote wheel and selects the Front Leaning Rest or push-up option. Shockingly, the activation of that particular emote flattens out their character and causes them to bounce off the ground harmlessly, without any damage or ill effects. As surprised as Late-Safe-8083 was, the commenters were equally amused and shocked that the technique actually worked. Many joked that the Helldiver’s push-ups were so strong that they didn’t actually bounce, they pushed the planet down.

With a variety of emotes to pick from in Helldivers 2, there was a time when emotes were able to negate all fall damage, but the glitch was patched out by Arrowhead in a previous update, which makes this one even more curious. Since the “Front Leaning Rest” option is on the newer side, having been released in the Helldivers 2 Python Commandos Warbond from early December, many wonder if this emote perhaps bypassed the fix.

While emoting to avoid fall damage is clearly not a hidden technique that Arrowhead Game Studios intended to add to the game considering its patch history, Helldivers 2 does feature lesser known gameplay features. From shooting behind while running, saluting a flag to raise it faster, to even drowning if going prone in shallow water, Helldivers 2 offers a unique sandbox that invites players to experiment while staying alive against improbable odds.

For now, Arrowhead hasn’t revealed its plans for 2026 just yet, leaving fans to speculate on where the popular co-op shooter could head next. The studio took some time in the latter portion of 2025 to clean up technical issues and bugs causing a lot of problems for players, though with the game in a much better state now, the studio is likely all hands on deck to push out new content sooner than later. The developers continue to be active participants online, particularly in the game’s Discord channel, where they respond to players and even hint at possible new additions. For now, though, players can take part in the special Helldivers 2 Festival of Reckoning holiday event featuring major orders and limited-time stratagems.
