Today’s robot vacuums aren’t just about sucking up dirt anymore – they’ve evolved into Swiss army knives on wheels. Ecovacs’ new flagship, the Deebot X11 Omnicyclone, is the latest example.
Unveiled at IFA in Berlin last week, the X11 Omnicyclone takes over from the X8 Omni in Singapore and packs the usual quality-of-life upgrades you’d expect from a premium refresh. Its TruePass Adaptive 4WD climbing system is one of the headline features, letting it scale up to 4cm obstacles – perfect for those small steps between your kitchen and living room that used to leave your robot stranded. Ecovacs also claims its spinning brush can now get within 15mm of edges and corners.
Mopping sees a bigger change. The new Ozmo Roller 2.0 system ditches traditional mop pads for a high-density nylon roller that Ecovacs claims spins and scrubs more aggressively, designed to tackle dried spills, greasy patches, and last night’s stubborn dinner stains.
But the feature that really stands out is the switch to a bagless system. Instead of relying on disposable dust bags, the X11 uses a self-emptying canister. It’s hard not to notice the timing, too: Dyson’s new Spot+Scrub Ai also uses a bagless chamber built on its familiar cyclone tech. The “Omnicyclone” name feels like Ecovacs throwing a little shade – or simply just an uncanny coincidence. Either way, ditching bags is a welcome step forward, given that most high-end stick vacuums abandoned them years ago. The base station still takes care of mop washing, water refills, and hot-air drying, which have become standard features at this price point.
Ecovacs has also boosted efficiency. The X11 comes with a faster-charging system so it can recharge mid-clean and get back to work more quickly. This is particularly useful for bigger homes where you don’t want a half-cleaned floor because the robot decided to nap for two hours before finishing the job.
Availability and pricing
The Deebot X11 Omnicyclone has been available in Singapore since 18 September for a jaw-dropping S$2,499 but will “officially launch” on 9 October on Ecovacs’ official webstore, Shopee, and Lazada at a more palatable price of S$1,699. It’s an odd pricing strategy, and unless you’re an Ecovacs superfan (seriously) then for the love of robot vacuums please stay your credit card until launch day.
