The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) cited safety concerns and urgent requests from the athletes’ families for their return, amid escalating border clashes with Thailand. Fighting at the Thai-Cambodian border resumed on Dec. 8, after Thailand confirmed it conducted air strikes against Cambodian targets. At least 10 people have been killed and thousands displaced.
