Google Pixel Buds 2a comes with ANC and Google Gemini

Google is finally updating its A-series earbuds after a five-year hiatus. There’s been a slight price increase, but the Google Pixel Buds 2a give back with a bevvy of fantastic upgrades.

Equipped with the same Tensor A1 chip that’s in Google’s flagship Pixel Buds Pro 2, the Pixel Buds 2a gets a nice boost in audio quality, with faster audio processing and the ability to run Google’s AI and Gemini features. 

Google has also redesigned the stabiliser fin, now featuring a twist-to-adjust function that allows the earbuds to fit more snugly, depending on how far you twist them in your ears.

There’s IP54 sweat and water resistance, which is a noticeable upgrade from its predecessors. 

The acoustic design has also been upgraded for better sound, although the earbuds are still using 11mm dynamic drivers.

Active Noise Cancellation with Silent Seal 1.5 is now available on these earbuds, allowing you to block out external noise for a more immersive listening experience. There’s also Transparency mode if you need to keep an ear out for environmental noises. 

The Pixel Buds 2a are Gemini-capable, so you can get hands-free help, such as summarised messages or answers to questions, while hands-free. Other existing features, such as Clear Calling, Find Hub, and multipoint, are also available.

Battery life has also been improved, with up to seven hours in the earbuds with ANC turned on, and a total of 20 hours when including the charging case. The Pixel Buds 2a’s charging case batteries are now replaceable, which is a nice show of Google’s commitment to being a little more sustainable. 

Google Pixel Buds 2a Singapore pricing and availability

The new Google Pixel Buds 2a retails at S$199 and comes in the Iris and Hazel colourways. Pre-orders start on 21 August with general availability from 9 October 2025. The Pixel Buds 2 will be available online at the Google Store, Amazon SG, Best Denki, Courts, Harvey Norman, Singtel, Shopee, Lazada and Metapod. Physical availability will be at Best Denki, Courts, Harvey Norman, Singtel and Metapod.

New colour for Pixel Buds Pro 2

In addition to the Pixel Buds 2a, Google has also announced that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will be getting a new colourway, Moonstone.
