DJI’s lightest and most compact drone, the Neo 2, is now available

• Dolly Zoom: Supporting a Hitchcock effect to help users create social media posts.
• MasterShots: A shooting mode that automatically help capture a large range shots with camera movements while adding music to produce high-quality videos.
• SelfieShot: Allows users to switch between waist up, full body and long shots.
• QuickShots: Shooting modes previously available in the Neo, including Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Spotlight, Helix and Boomerang.

The drone also features an onboard display that allows the owner to see what shooting mode was selected. It also features Gesture Control, allowing users to control the drone without the use of a controller or smartphone. With their hands, the drone can be launched from a user’s palm, followed by a Return-to-palm feature, and can direct the drone to fly off or approach. In addition to this, the drone can be commanded via Voice Control by speaking into a Bluetooth headset or smartphone. For users who prefer a more manual way of control, the drone can be paired with the DJI RC-N3 allowing for maximum video transmission range of up to 10km.

Other improvements the Neo 2 has over the Neo include a new low noise 2-axis gimbal design, improving balance and stability while filming. Alongside this, DJI also says that the Neo 2 offers a better hovering and flight capabilities, which will allow for better navigation in more complex environments. The Neo 2 also offers a slightly better battery which allows for 19 minutes of flight time.

An important and welcome new feature is the introduction of a obstacle avoidance system, using an omnidirectional camera with a forward-facing LiDAR and an infrared sensing system, the Neo 2 can detect obstacles in real-time.

Other specs of the DJI Neo include a 12MP 1/2-inch CMOS sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, 4K video recording at 100fps for slow motion or 2.7k vertical, Level-5 wind resistance, 49GB internal storage space (able to store about 105 minutes of 4K/60 FPS video) and wireless footage transfer at up to 80MB/s.
