Epic Games has revealed that Fortnite will be collaborating with the hit Disney+ show Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which will include a brand-new island that promises to give fans of the franchise a unique experience. Fortnite recently released Chapter 7 of the popular battle royale, bringing new features like a self-revive item, drivable reboot van, wingsuits, and surfing to the title. New seasons almost always come with a wide variety of fresh collaborations, which has definitely been the case with Chapter 7 Season 1 so far.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief made its initial debut in 2005 as a novel written by the American author Rick Riordan. The novel kicked off a four-book series called the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles, though the character of Percy Jackson has continued his adventure outside the initial series. After becoming a massive hit, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief was adapted into a film with the same name, making its debut in theaters in 2010. While the movie did receive a sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters in 2013, fans were then left waiting to see more of the story come to life on film for a decade. On December 19, 2023, Disney+ breathed new life into the series by releasing season 1 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians on the popular streaming platform. With the second season poised to make its debut on December 10, it seems as if fans are about to receive a whole new wave of content to enjoy.

Disney is Bringing a Standalone Percy Jackson Island to Fortnite
Epic Games has revealed that, starting on December 9 at 3:00 PM ET, gamers will be able to experience a whole new Fortnite island inspired by Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The island, which is being published by Disney, will provide players with a unique standalone experience, allowing them to join Camp Half-Blood, find out which Percy Jackson god is their parent, develop divine powers, and ally with other demigod players in a fight against Scylla and Charybdis on the Sea of Monsters. This will be the first time players can experience official Percy Jackson content in a video game in fifteen years, as the franchise’s last appearance in the medium was with the movie tie-in title Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief for the Nintendo DS in 2010.
Since Fortnite is a free-to-play title, and the Percy Jackson content is standalone, fans of the books, movies, or show can all jump onto the island without having any prior experience with Epic Games’ battle royale. As of writing, Epic Games has not revealed if or when the experience will go away, so gamers who wish to partake in the content may want to do so sooner rather than later. It seems as if fans of Percy Jackson and the Olympians have a lot to look forward to, as Disney+ has already renewed the popular series for a third season. This is a fairly large show of confidence, as the second season won’t make its official debut on Disney+ until December 10.
So far, Chapter 7 of Fortnite has been filled with major crossovers, as players are currently able to acquire skins from both Kill Bill and Back to the Future in the battle pass. Epic Games’ collaboration with Kill Bill even came with a short film, which brought a cut portion of the movie’s original script to life for the first time. Quentin Tarantino stated that, when first making Kill Bill, it just wasn’t possible to include the action sequence. However, he always treated the unfilmed scene as if it had happened, which means the short, Yuki’s Revenge, has finally brought the creator’s original vision to life. With so much content to enjoy and even more just around the corner, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Fortnite.
