ARC Raiders Player Gets the Cops Called on Them

An ARC Raiders player has shared their experience of how being deep in the game led to the police showing up at their door. ARC Raiders players always have to be on their toes in-game, but this fan wasn’t expecting to get attention outside of it.

ARC Raiders has been an overwhelming success since its launch, with the game typically seeing hundreds of thousands of players daily on Steam alone. The developers have created and refined a satisfying gameplay loop that keeps players coming back, but it might be possible to get a little too deep in the experience, judging by this fan’s encounter.

After 100 Hours in ARC Raiders, I Still Haven’t Encountered One of Its Most ‘Common’ Annoyances

I just hit 100 hours in ARC Raiders, and I have yet to encounter an annoyance that many other players state is their reason for leaving the game.

An ARC Raiders player going by YoMopho on Reddit explained that they had just finished dealing with the police at their door and had to share the story with the community. YoMopho said they were at a motel and had brought their PlayStation 5 with them, and were having fun playing the game when police started pounding on their door. The cops revealed that they were doing a welfare check, as reports had been made that someone was being shot in the room the player was in.

YoMopho had inadvertently alarmed someone in or near the motel while playing the game. They note that they were on the “run of their life,” having looted two Wolfpacks and an Osprey sniper rifle, and took down a Leaper with a random group, only to get downed by a Rocketeer while on the way to extraction. This is the point where the neighbors likely got alarmed, as the player had been yelling over the mic “I got shot” and “help” to another player in hopes of getting saved. Unfortunately, the other player wasn’t able to help them, so they ended up empty-handed and with the cops at the door in real life.

Fellow ARC Raiders players have been pretty amused by the story. Thankfully, the police believed YoMopho after seeing the PS5 and headphones in the room. Players are having plenty of fun joking about it, though, with one asking if YoMopho used ARC Raiders emotes on the cops, like “don’t shoot!” to which YoMopho said he yelled “friendly” instead. Other players shared their own similar experiences, with one admitting they had once worried that a neighbor was being violent when they had just been raging at a video game. Some also noted that they had experienced accidentally alarming others due to using game terminology in public, like talking about Counter-Strike‘s bombs.
