Pokemon TCG Reveals New Ascended Heroes Expansion
The Pokemon Company has officially revealed the next expansion coming to the Pokemon TCG, showing the first visuals for “Ascended Heroes.” Ascended Heroes will place a plethora of different Pokemon in the spotlight, notably featuring Mega Dragonite as its spotlight Pokemon and bringing Mega Charizard Y to the game. The post also teases some unexpected new additions in the Pokemon TCG‘s next set, bringing new Stellar Tera Pokemon and even more Owner’s Pokemon as part of the expansion. The Pokemon Company even confirmed the release date for Ascended Heroes, with the set launching on January 30.
Ascended Heroes will look to pack in plenty of the biggest highlights of the past year for the franchise, with an assortment of featured mechanics. The inclusion of Stellar Tera Pokemon will mark the first time the Pokemon TCG has utilized the Tera mechanic since Prismatic Evolutions, with recent sets skipping the Tera mechanic as Pokemon wrapped up the Scarlet and Violet era. The teaser visual also hinted at reprints of several sought-after Pokemon TCG cards, including Ethan’s Ho-Oh ex from Destined Rivals and Pikachu ex from Surging Sparks.
Pokemon TCG fans have seen plenty of reasons to be excited about the card game since Mega Evolution’s release with lots of stunning new cards. The Mega Gengar ex card from the Japanese “Mega Dream ex” expansion has already been selling for hundreds of dollars on eBay, weeks before its official release. The Pokemon frenzy has once again seen retailers move to limit Pokemon TCG purchases for individual customers, with even Walmart setting its own limits. Ascended Heroes should look to be a high-profile release with lots to look forward to for Pokemon fans.
