During its production, Embark Studios faced a variety of challenges, ultimately delaying the game’s launch. Upcoming Web Documentary Lifts the Veil on ARC Raiders’ Development
Officially called The Evolution of ARC Raiders, a YouTube teaser for the upcoming web series is hinting at a deep dive into why Embark Studios made certain decisions during the game’s development. From interviews with various developers to intriguing concept art, The Evolution of ARC Raiders is set to showcase how Embark Studios came together to craft a unique sci-fi world that successfully stood apart from others in the genre, which is no easy task.
From the early days of its development, when Embark Studios intended for the game to only be a PvE experience, to the eventual implementation of PvP gameplay, the documentary series will take players through the company’s long journey. Embark Studios co-founder Patrick Soderlund mentions in the trailer that he and many of the developers were hoping for a solely PvE experience, but the team was struggling to make it work properly, which ultimately led to the addition of ARC Raiders‘ PvP.
The Evolution of ARC Raiders will span three episodes and is produced by the crowdfunded media company Noclip.
It’s hard to imagine ARC Raiders without PvP now, so it’s incredibly interesting that so many developers were against it at first. Also, some players not engaging in PvP and choosing to be friendly has been a fascinating part of the ARC Raiders community. Although Embark Studios has yet to reveal when the first episode of The Evolution of ARC Raiders will arrive, many fans of the hit extraction shooter are bound to find this upcoming look behind the scenes quite compelling.
