World of Warcraft Begins 21st Anniversary Celebration with New and Returning Rewards

World of Warcraft has officially begun its 21st Anniversary celebration event, with many of last year’s rewards and activities returning alongside the brand-new Loyal Watchman transmog ensemble. This World of Warcraft event is live now through December 7, so fans should be sure to capitalize on the experience buffs, Blackrock Depths Timewalking raid, and more before then.

On November 23, 2004, the release of World of Warcraft changed the face of online gaming forever. Nearly 21 years later, the king of the MMO scene is still going strong, with the Legion Remix event ongoing, and the final patch of World of Warcraft: The War Within coming December 2.

World of Warcraft 21st Anniversary Celebration Highlights

Now, just ahead of the major milestone, World of Warcraft has officially kicked off its 21st anniversary celebration event. The Bronze Celebration venue has returned to Tanaris outside the Caverns of Time from now until December 7, offering many of the activities from last year once more. World of Warcraft‘s anniversary world bosses, Korrak’s Revenge, the Blackrock Depths raid, Chromie’s Codex, Guest Relations, and all the micro events like Mount Mania and Storytelling have returned, ensuring players have plenty to enjoy throughout the celebration.

  • WoW anniversary experience and reputation buff (+10%, +20% with Celebrate Good Fun! quest)
  • Activities

    • World Bosses
    • Korrak’s Revenge
    • Blackrock Depths raid
    • Venue mini-games, including Mount Mania and Fashion Frenzy
    • Guest Relations secret-finding quests
    • Chromie’s Codex scenario
  • Rewards

Of course, there are plenty of rewards for fans to collect as well. The revamped Tier 2 sets from the WoW 20th anniversary event, along with the Coldflame set, Lil’ Doomy, and many other rewards from the last few years are all available again, along with a slew of anniversary Enthusiast titles. There are also two new rewards this year: the Loyal Watchman transmog set and the Khaz Algar Enthusiast title, which cost 230 and 100 Timewarped Badges respectively.

All players receive a 10% boost to all experience and reputation gains during this event, which can be doubled to 20% by completing the Celebrate Good Fun! Quest from Yllana each day. Completing various activities and quests grants the WoW anniversary event-specific Bronze Celebration Tokens and the evergreen Timewarped Badges currencies. Fans can only earn a certain amount of Bronze Celebration tokens each week on their entire account, so there is no need to grind across multiple characters.

What Didn’t Return From the World of Warcraft 20th Anniversary Celebration Last Year?

  • Legacy anniversary rewards (Obsidian Worldbreaker, Lil’ Nefarian, etc.)
  • Classic Timewalking
  • Normal and Heroic Blackrock Depths, Timewarped Relic Coffer Key vendors (may be added later)

Unfortunately, not everything from last year has returned in the World of Warcraft 21st anniversary event. A handful of vendors are missing from the celebration venue this year, including Storekeeper Reginald and Bobadormu. The former offered a bunch of legacy WoW anniversary event rewards that have been unobtainable for years, including the Obsidian Worldbreaker, Lil’ Nefarian, and the Baby Blizzard Bear, and will likely not return again until another major milestone like the 25th anniversary. Meanwhile, Bobadormu now appears in Stormwind and Orgrimmar during Classic Timewalking, which has entered that event’s regular rotation, rather than being attached to the anniversary.

Another omission from the event comes with the Blackrock Depths raid. A revamped version of the Classic dungeon, only the LRF difficulty of the raid is currently available. The Normal and Heroic versions of Blackrock Depths are nowhere to be found, nor are the weekly quest or Timewarped Relic Coffer Key vendors. It remains to be seen if this was an intentional absence, or if they will appear later on in the event, possibly after the first weekly reset on Tuesday.

Though World of Warcraft Classic’s anniversary event is far humbler, players will still be able to benefit from the Joyous Journeys buff in World of Warcraft soon. From November 18 through December 9, characters in Mists of Pandaria Classic can earn 50% more experience up to level 90, giving them an easy pathway to level up and prep phase 3, The Thunder King, expected to arrive in December. The buff is active automatically, but gamers who prefer a slower leveling experience can turn it off at any innkeeper found in World of Warcraft‘s capital cities or in Dalaran.
