Enshrouded’s Wake of the Water update has added a variety of new resources and crafting materials. While they’re exploring the new Veilwater Basin biome, players can now gather water-based resources, including Paper Reed. This is a tall aquatic plant that you’ll need for crafting new gear and items. Even though players would expect Paper Reed to grow only in the new biome, it’s actually scattered across multiple regions in Enshrouded. So, even if you haven’t unlocked the Veilwater Basin biome, you can still get your hands on Paper Reed.
Where to Find Paper Reed in Enshrouded
Paper Reed can be found growing along the edges of ponds, rivers, and small lakes throughout Embervale. After the Wake of the Water update, these bodies of water were added to nearly every biome, so you don’t always have to venture deep into the Veilwater Basin to find this basic resource.
If you’re still early in your journey, the easiest spots to collect Paper Reed are in the Springlands, the starting region. Look for tall, thin plants with fluffy brown tops near the water’s edge. They resemble cattails or papyrus reeds and are easy to spot once you know what you’re looking for.
Two reliable Springlands locations include:
- East of the Ancient Spire – Springlands: Head past the Flame Shrine and look for a small pond before reaching the Ancient Vault – Hunter. The area is full of Paper Reeds.
- West of the Ancient Spire – Springlands: Travel beyond Woodgard toward the Ancient Obelisk. Before you reach the Ancient Vault – Alchemist, you’ll find another pond surrounded by Paper Reeds.
You can also find them in Revelwood, particularly if you glide southeast from the Ancient Spire – Revelwood. Look for clusters of ponds below and scan the water’s edge for the familiar reed shapes.
Another reliable spot is near the Dragon Dream Lake. From the Ancient Spire – Nomad Highlands, go north toward the Dragon Dream Lake. Just below the lake, there’s an area where you’ll find a cluster of five to six Paper Reed plants growing along the water’s edge.
Once you spot them, simply walk up and press the button to harvest. The plants respawn over time, so it’s a good idea to revisit these locations if you need more later.
How to Use Paper Reed in Enshrouded
Paper Reed can be used in a number of ways in Enshrouded. Its main use is in creating Capybara Bait. Apart from that, Paper Reed can substitute for Plant Fiber in several older recipes. As such, you can use it to make Torches, String, Firefly Lamps, Explosive Powder Balls, and even Crude Mattresses. It’s also used in some decorative crafting, like Underwater Overgrowth for your base.
