Motorcyclist dies after accident on PIE; car driver arrested


SINGAPORE – A 27-year-old motorcyclist died after an accident with a car on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) on Nov 10.

The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted at around 10.20am.

The accident, which involved a car and a motorcycle, occurred on the PIE towards Changi Airport after the Lorong 6 Toa Payoh exit.

The motorcyclist was unconscious when taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he subsequently died, the authorities said.

The police have arrested a 31-year-old car driver for driving without reasonable consideration and causing death.

Police investigations are ongoing.

The Nov 10 accident is the third reported fatal accident in two months involving a motorcyclist on the PIE.
