Motorola joins the ultra-slim phone battle with its 5.9mm thick Edge 70

The ultra-thin phone space has a new contender, the Motorola Edge 70.

Measuring 5.99mm thin, the Motorola Edge 70 isn’t quite as slim as the 5.6mm Apple iPhone Air or the 5.8mm Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. Its aircraft-grade aluminium frame also lacks the premium touch of the titanium used by its rivals.

Aware that it can’t win on material quality or dimensions alone, Motorola has positioned the Edge 70 as the thinnest phone in its class to feature three rear cameras and the largest battery capacity.

Despite being 5.99mm thin, the Edge 70 has three rear cameras.

The Edge 70’s triple-camera system includes a 50MP f/1.8 main lens, a 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide lens with macro support, and a dedicated 3-in-1 light sensor for enhanced light sensitivity and exposure control. On the front is a 50MP f/2.0 camera. In comparison, the iPhone Air offers a 48MP rear camera while the Galaxy S25 Edge pairs a 200MP main camera with a 12MP ultra-wide shooter.

Powering the Edge 70 is a 4,800mAh battery capable of up to 38 hours of mixed usage or 29 hours of continuous video playback. Packing such a massive battery into an ultra-slim design is an impressive engineering feat, especially when compared to the iPhone Air (3,149mAh) and the Galaxy S25 Edge (3,900mAh). The larger battery capacity of the Edge 70 should put it in a better position to appeal to consumers who need an ultra-thin phone that can last a full day on a single charge.

Availability and Pricing

The Motorola Edge 70 will be available in select markets across Europe and the Middle East with prices starting from €799 (~S$1,202). Motorola says it plans to bring the Edge 70 to select markets around the world.
