What was supposed to be a routine teeth scaling and polishing session at a dental clinic in Johor Bahru (JB) turned into a painful ordeal for a woman, who said a large cavity was drilled into her tooth unexpectedly.
Ms Li (transliterated), a woman from Singapore, told Shin Min Daily News that the incident occurred on Sept 4, at Q&M Dental Group’s clinic branch at Taman Sentosa.
The 40-year-old said she had previously visited the chain’s Bukit Indah branch for scaling and polishing. However, when she could not secure an appointment there that day, she made a last-minute switch to its Taman Sentosa branch.
Although she had initially requested only scaling and polishing, believing there was nothing wrong with her teeth, the dentist recommended that she get a filling.
‘I’ve never experienced so much pain in my life’
Li said she had expected the procedure to involve simply filling the tooth. However, the dentist began drilling without warning, causing her severe pain.
