Apple’s rumoured 27 October event: New MacBook Pro, iMac, iPad mini

The move to OLED could deliver deeper blacks, stronger contrast, and more vibrant colours than traditional LCD panels. Touchscreen support would also give users another way to interact with macOS, potentially making the MacBook Pro more versatile for creative work and everyday tasks.

Apple is also expected to refresh its more affordable MacBook Pro option with an M6 chip, bringing the latest generation of Apple silicon to the 14-inch model. Meanwhile, the M6-powered iMac could receive a visual refresh with new colour options.

The iPad mini could be in line for a major upgrade. Apple is reportedly preparing to bring an OLED display and a water-resistant design to its smallest tablet.

An OLED panel could improve contrast and colour reproduction, making the iPad mini more appealing for watching videos, reading digital books, and browsing content. Combined with improved water resistance, these changes could strengthen its appeal as a portable reading companion and an alternative to dedicated e-book readers.

The potential 27 October event would follow Apple’s “Welcome Home” event on 13 October, which is expected to focus on smart home products, including a long-rumoured smart home hub, an updated HomePod mini, and a new Apple TV.
