This is my pick for Singapore’s best KBBQ, and they’ve kept their new Bugis spot a bloody secret. – 📍 Sodeng Jeju – 7 Fraser Street, 01-51/56, Singapore 189356 – You know me. I won’t gatekeep. Sodeng Jeju is a Jeju-themed Korean BBQ restaurant in Bugis, and the Jeju part goes well beyond the name. The entrance is dolharubang-themed, the interior follows through, and even the potato salad comes as a dolharubang. They source Jeju ingredients for their banchan, mains and especially their meat. 📌 Jeju 오겹살: we skipped the usual samgyeopsal for pork belly with the skin on. That’s the cut I’d come here for. Dip it in meljeot sauce and, my gosh, it was freaking delicious. 📌 Jeju abalone porridge: this actually started the meal. The combination to try is a spoonful of porridge with their squid jeotgal on top. That jeotgal might be the best I’ve tasted, and you know it, it’s from Jeju. Together with the porridge, it was fantastic. 📌 The banchan spread: geotjeori kimchi, perilla leaves for wraps and that squid jeotgal. With Jeju ingredients showing up before the meat even arrives, you get why the restaurant leans so much into the island. 📌 명태회 비빔막국수: a mountain of bibim buckwheat noodles piled with marinated pollock. Have a bite with some of the pork. My gosh, that combination tasted exactly like being back in Korea. 📌 Marinated pork: this arrived last, with that sweet, savoury char I love. By then, we couldn’t eat another bite. I’d already had the skin-on pork belly, the porridge and the noodles, so this was the final dish of a very full meal. 📌 Going with a group? They also have private rooms for special occasions, with space for groups of up to 40. Sodeng Jeju in Bugis is my pick for Singapore’s best KBBQ. Come for the Jeju pork, have the pollock buckwheat noodles with it, and make sure you get that abalone porridge with the squid jeotgal. That pairing deserves a spot in your order. Save this for your next Korean BBQ meal. I’m not keeping this one to myself. – #esyfilms #SodengJeju #SingaporeKBBQ #BugisFood JejuPork
