Temperature falls to 22.7 deg C in Tuas; heavy rain triggers 2 flash floods

The National Environment Agency said at around 3.30pm that heavy rain was expected over northern, western and central areas of Singapore from 3.40pm to 4.10pm.

Before that, it said at 2.40pm that heavy rain was expected over those areas from 3pm to 3.45pm.

On Sept 27, the temperature fell to a low of 20.7 deg C in Clementi Road at 12.20pm that day, after heavy rain triggered a flash flood at the junction of Neo Pee Teck Lane and Pasir Panjang Road.

The lowest temperature so far in 2026 was 20.1 deg C, recorded at the Newton weather station on June 12, after heavy downpours ended a long stretch of warm weather linked to the El Nino weather phenomenon.

In its fortnightly forecast issued on Sept 16, the MSS said more showers were expected in the second half of September, compared with the first.

Short and thundery showers were to be expected between the late morning and afternoon over parts of Singapore on most days, the weatherman said.

There could also be widespread moderate to heavy thundery showers over the island on one or two days.

Overall, the total rainfall for the second fortnight of September was forecast to be near the long-term average across most parts of the island.
