CD Projekt has revealed that The Witcher Remake from Fool’s Theory is currently on the back burner as the studio works on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Songs of the Past expansion and awaits some of The Witcher 4’s technological innovations.
Joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski mentioned roadblocks for the project in an interview with The Game Business. “We started a collaboration with Fool’s Theory. They were supposed to work on The Witcher 1 [remake], but we realized that needed a bit more time because of certain technology dependencies with The Witcher 4,” Nowakowski revealed.
GameSpot has reached out to CD Projekt for comment on the state of The Witcher’s remake and whether issues with those “technology dependencies” required for further development have been resolved. We will update if we get a response.
