Everything Coming to Netflix in September 2026

Netflix is wrapping up the summer with the Jaws movies, the Resident Evil flicks, and both Alien and Aliens while also getting into the back-to-school spirit with a revival of ’80s/’90s Cosby Show spin-off, A Different World.

You can also catch some great spookies with Ready or Not, Smile 2, Oculus, and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot from 2003. Plus, there’s solid gold cinema like Phantom Thread, About Time, Knocked Up, Liar Liar, Dragnet, and Cruel Intentions! There’s also new sophomore seasons of Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen (which was already picked up for a third season) and Stranger Things: Tales From ’85.

So while you ponder the how/why/who of Netflix raising its prices once again, here’s a rundown of every series, special, movie, and doc landing on Netflix in September…

Smile 2 – September 3

2022’s Smile was a serviceable slice of spooky for sure, but Smile 2 is a horror masterclass in crafting a much much better sequel, thanks in no small part to Naomi Scott’s superb performance as a spread-too-thin pop star trying to make a comeback after a personal tragedy. Writer/director Parker Finn takes the fiendishly fun idea from his first flick and blows it up in bold, beautiful ways.

Dang! – September 8

Good Place alums Andrew Law, Matt Murray, and Mike Schur present us with Dang!, an adult animated comedy starring Law, Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once), and Poppy Liu (Hacks) about a brother and sister whose fun lives in New York City get ruined when their high-achieving older sister shows up and wants to hang out.

Party Down – September 22

All three seasons of the blistering catering biz comedy, Party Down, is headed to Netflix. Razor sharp and starring the likes of Adam Scott, Jane Lynch, Ken Marino, Lizzy Caplan, and more, Party Down also boasts Paul Rudd and Rob Thomas (iZombie, Veronica Mars) among its co-creators/writers. We should note, though, that the third season is a six-episode revival from 2023, featuring most of the cast as everything that once held cult comedy currency returns to us in some way or another… unless it’s the Community movie, which seems like it’ll never happen.

A Different World – September 24

“This feels like a different world…than where I come from.”

This revival of the famed Cosby Show spin-off, A Different World, takes us back to Hillman College and follows Deborah (Maleah Joi Moon), the youngest child of Kadeem Hardison’s Dwayne Wayne and Jasmine Guy’s Whitley Gilbert as she finds her parents’ shadow difficult to escape during her first year. Along with the new cast, show (and Hillman) alumni Hardison, Guy, Darryl M. Bell, Cree Summer, Charnele Brown, Ajai Sanders, Dawnn Lewis, and Jada Pinkett Smith are back as well.

Oculus – September 24

Any time we hear that writer/director Mike Flanagan and his Flana-gang are tackling a new Stephen King adaptation (like Flanagan’s upcoming Carrie miniseries), we get super pumped. But let’s also give it up for Flanagan originals, like your Midnight Mass. your Hush, and…your Oculus — a savage, scary look at a family ripped apart by a cursed object. Starring Karen Gillan, Katee Sackhoff, and Kate Siegel (duh!), Oculus is cinematic dread in all the best ways.

Unabomber – September 25

The TVA showing Loki how he fumbled New York.

Starring Jacob Tremblay, Russell Crowe, Shailene Woodley, Annabelle Wallis, and Alexander Ludwig, Unabomber alternates between two timelines to track the story of domestic terrorist Ted Kaczynski from his time at Harvard to the nationwide manhunt decades later. Janus Metz Pedersen (Andor) directs.
