Man who was teacher aide charged over sexual offences committed against pupil in school

The teacher aide, whose role typically includes preparing teaching materials and resources, was in an activity room at the school when he allegedly directed the victim to perform an indecent act on him.

He is said to have done it a second time at the school at around 3.30pm on Feb 13, 2026. The man allegedly also touched the child’s genitals over his clothing that day.

His case will be mentioned again in court on Sept 24.

For each charge under the CYPA, a first-time offender can be jailed for up to seven years, fined up to $10,000, or both.

A repeat offender can be jailed for up to 10 years, fined up to $20,000, or both.

If convicted of molestation, the man can be jailed for up to five years, fined, caned, or receive any combination of such punishments.
