Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers foiled an attempt to smuggle duty-unpaid cigarettes into Singapore via Woodlands Checkpoint on Aug 16.

Photographs posted by ICA on its Facebook page on Thursday (Aug 27) show several cartons of cigarettes stashed away in a Malaysia-registered car’s engine compartment.

Black trash bags are also seen taped over the compartment.

ICA said its search and examination officers had directed the vehicle for enhanced checks.
