SINGAPORE: A man who fled from Singapore to Malaysia in 2021 was on Thursday (Aug 27) handed a jail sentence for a brawl he was involved in five years earlier.
Marcus Yeo Zhen Wei had escaped the authorities by first travelling to Pulau Ubin, before making his way into Malaysia in October 2021.
But he was caught by there the following year over a drug-related offence.
The 35-year-old was eventually sent back to Singapore in November 2025 before his re-arrest for the brawl that occurred at a Magazine Road club near Havelock Road.
Yeo was sentenced to two years and three weeks’ jail, after he pleaded guilty to offences including assault, performing a rash act, and illegally departing Singapore.
The incident happened at around 9.30pm on March 21, 2021 when Yeo and three male friends, who had consumed alcohol, confronted several patrons after accusing them of staring.
