LEGO Unveils Longest Set Ever, The Star Wars Executor Super Star Destroyer

LEGO has unveiled an enormous new Star Wars Executor Super Star Destroyer set, which will soon become the company’s longest model ever.

While not the most expensive LEGO set or the model with the most bricks, the Executor’s vast length will break a fresh record for the toy firm in terms of its length. At more than 136 cm long, this 6,130-piece Ultimate Collector Series model is one you’d need a very deep Dagobah swamp to hide in.

Priced at a stonking $799.99 (£649.99), the set will become available on October 4, or via early access to LEGO Insiders from October 1. And if you need to measure up your home to find out if it’ll fit, the set’s dimensions will be 7.5 inches (20 cm) in height, 53.5 inches (136 cm) in length and 20 inches (50 cm) in width. Finally, it’ll weigh just over 11 lbs / 5 kg.

LEGO Star Wars Executor Super Star Destroyer Images

Which ship is the Executor? This is the super sleek, supersized Star Destroyer that Darth Vader uses as his flagship in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Present at the Battle of Hoth and Battle of Endor, this ship is also the setting for Vader’s meeting with various bounty hunters, included here as minifigures.

In Star Wars lore, the actual Executor was over 19 km in length — roughly the size of Manhatten. The Executor was only finally beaten when a brave Rebel pilot crashed into its command bridge during the battle around Endor’s moon, disabling the gargantuan vessel’s shields and sinking it into the second Death Star (another Empire design flaw). It was apparently crewed by a vast army in the hundreds of thousands — but best not think too much about that.

The LEGO Star Wars Executor set will weigh in at a hefty 6,130 pieces and include a mini build of the ship’s bridge. Minifigures include Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Dengar, Bossk, IG-88, 4-LOM, and Zuckuss. LEGO Insiders will be eligible for a Gift With Purchase (while stocks last) of a buildable recreation of Darth Vader’s Lightsaber.
