A small fire broke out at York Hotel Singapore on Monday (August 24) morning, with one guest suffering an ankle injury during the evacuation.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to a fire at the hotel located at 21 Mount Elizabeth at about 4am.
The fire involved the contents of a kitchen on the second floor and was extinguished by SCDF using a fire extinguisher.
In a video circulating online, people believed to be hotel guests could be seen outside the hotel’s entrance, with a fire engine parked nearby.
In a statement posted on its Facebook and Instagram Stories, York Hotel Singapore said the fire occurred in a food preparation area within the kitchen of a Chinese restaurant on Level 2 of the Tower Block, which is operated by a tenant.
