Thundery showers, warm weather expected in Singapore during first two weeks of November

In a review of the weather over the past two weeks, the Met Service said that inter-monsoon conditions in the second half of October led to generally light winds of variable directions. Short thundery showers fell over parts of Singapore during the same period.

Most parts of Singapore recorded below average rainfall in the second fortnight of October. The area around Admiralty registered rainfall of 60 per cent below average, while the area around Tai Seng registered rainfall of 17 per cent above average.

The highest daily total rainfall of the past two weeks was logged on Oct 17, with 56.8mm of rain falling in Tai Seng that day.

The passage of a Sumatra squall brought gusty winds over Singapore, with the year’s record for the highest wind gust logged on Oct 24 at 83.2kmh on Semakau Island.

The last two weeks of October were warm, said the Met Service, with daily maximum temperatures above 34 deg C on most days.

The highest daily maximum temperature in October was recorded in Paya Lebar and Sembawang at 35.7 deg C on Oct 30.
