The first trailer for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override was released and confirmed that it’s the massive gaming crossover bonanza that leak suggested it would be.
Mixing cinematics and gameplay, the trailer follows Jonesy as he explores an island full of video game-inspired characters and locales. I spotted Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails, Dr. Eggman, Joker from Persona 5, Mega Man, Scorpion, Raiden, Kitana, and The Deer from Roblox’s 99 Nights in the Forest. Funnily enough, a character named Geno is also an important villain in the next season’s narrative, although he’s an original Fortnite character and not one from Super Mario RPG.
The gaming influence also extends into gameplay. We see Jonesy chase a 1-Up coin for most of the trailer, running like Sonic through a Green Hill Zone-themed area of the battle royale map, using Mega Man’s Mega Blaster, and dodging some falling Tetris blocks from the sky.
