Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers cut open the floorboard of a Malaysia-registered car during an enhanced check at Woodlands Checkpoint on Aug 4.
In photographs posted on its Facebook on Tuesday (Aug 11), the multi-purpose vehicle’s (MPV) floorboard was seen cut open from its underneath, revealing cartons of cigarettes.
Several cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes were similarly found under the MPV’s bonnet.Â
ICA said its officers had directed the vehicle for enhanced checks, acting on information received from its Integrated Targeting Centre.
There, search and examination officers found more than 600 cartons and over 900 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes concealed in the floorboard of the vehicle.
