Lotus Eletre And Emeya MY27 Available In Singapore With More Kit And Lower Starting Prices

The updated Lotus Eletre and Emeya arrive in Singapore with more equipment fitted as standard and lower starting prices.

Coming shortly after the Singapore showcase of the Evija hypercar, the refreshed range also serves to underline a broader point from Lotus: the engineering lessons behind its 2,000hp-plus halo car are increasingly filtering down into models intended to be driven every day.

The Eletre and Emeya were developed by the same team responsible for the Evija, led by Gavan Kershaw, Director of Attributes at Lotus Cars and one of the figures responsible for shaping the dynamic character of the company’s modern cars.

The modern interpretation is inevitably rather different from the lightweight sports cars traditionally associated with Hethel. The Eletre is a sizeable luxury SUV, while the Emeya is a five-seat electric GT. Neither could reasonably be described as following Colin Chapman’s famous philosophy of simply adding lightness. Instead, Lotus has applied its expertise elsewhere.

Adaptive suspension, active aerodynamics and chassis tuning are used to disguise mass and retain the ride and handling characteristics expected of the badge, while electric motors provide the sort of performance that would once have required something far more exotic.

“The Evija demonstrates what Lotus engineering is capable of at its very highest level,” said Ian Grant, General Manager of Lotus Cars Singapore.
