Get ready for a deep dive on the new Fire Emblem

A new Nintendo Direct is coming this Tuesday, Nintendo has officially confirmed. Nintendo’s latest livestreamed games showcase will focus on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 title Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, the latest entry in the 36-year-old tactical role-playing game franchise.

Nintendo’s Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Direct will stream live on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 7 a.m. PDT / 10 a.m. EDT on the company’s YouTube channel. Nintendo says the Fire Emblem deep dive will last approximately 20 minutes.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave was announced last September as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. The latest game in the Fire Emblem franchise promises “an intertwining story of strength and steel alongside four new heroes: Cai, a young boy determined to save his imprisoned father; Dietrich, a swordsman ever on the hunt for a stronger foe; Theodora, a queen seeking to fulfill the long-held dream of her homeland; and Leda, a musician with her sights set on revenge.”

Each character has their own goals and storyline, and each takes part in The Dagsion Heroic Games, an event that seems to pit warriors against one another in a Colosseum-like arena. The winner will have their wish granted by the Divine Sovereign, a godlike figure who hosts the games. Between matches in the Heroic Games, players can explore the capital city of Dagsion, learn new techniques at the training grounds, strengthen bonds to recruit new allies, and travel outside the city’s walls to gain additional experience, Nintendo says. The game appears to be a prequel to 2019’s Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is slated to arrive on Switch 2 on Sept. 17.
