Singapore reaffirmed its commitment to regional energy interconnectivity and renewable energy cooperation during the second day of the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2025.
On the second day of the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2025, Singapore engaged with international counterparts to advance regional and global cooperation in the energy sector. The discussions focused on enhancing interconnectivity, promoting renewable energy, and strengthening regulatory collaboration to ensure a sustainable and resilient energy future.
At the Singapore International Energy Agency (IEA) Forum, Singapore reaffirmed its support for regional energy interconnectivity, highlighting the importance of the ASEAN Power Grid — a key initiative aimed at linking energy networks across Southeast Asia. To further this goal, the Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore and the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen regulatory exchanges and energy cooperation. The IEA Governing Board also convened its meeting in Singapore for the first time outside Paris, marking a significant milestone in international energy collaboration.

During the Singapore–International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) High-Level Forum, Singapore welcomed the launch of the Accelerated Partnership for Renewable Energy in Southeast Asia (APRESA). The initiative aims to enhance renewable energy financing, modernise regional power grids, and boost cross-border electricity trade, supporting Southeast Asia’s transition to cleaner and more secure energy systems.
As global energy challenges become increasingly complex, Singapore reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with regional and international partners to advance decarbonisation, safeguard energy resilience, and shape a smarter and more sustainable energy future.
