Fortnite launches Cuddles and Chaos: Here’s what to expect

The Fortnite Cuddles and Chaos event has begun, giving players the opportunity to earn tons of freebies. The goal of the Cuddles and Chaos event is to promote creature games, a new Creative Island category in Fortnite that focuses on sidekick gameplay.

Initially, Epic Games attempted to add companion creatures to Fortnite as pets during Chapter 1 Season 6 in 2018. While they had a handful of fun animations, they were bound to players’ backs, as they were technically considered back blings. Unfortunately, Epic didn’t release many pets before dropping the idea entirely. In November 2025, seven years later, Epic revised the idea with the launch of sidekicks — free-roaming creatures that are invisible to opponents and follow the players through a match. Players were even able to customize them and earn Sidekick Points to get additional cosmetics to dress them up.

While sidekicks were definitely an improvement compared to pets, many felt that there was more that could be done with them. To make the most of these creatures, Epic Games introduced Cuddles and Chaos to Fortnite. Not long before creature games became available, Epic Games gave island creators the ability to make maps using sidekicks so they could prepare new islands for the launch of Cuddles and Chaos.

How to play Cuddles and Chaos islands in Fortnite

To check out the islands that are part of the Cuddles and Chaos category, players have to head to the in-game Discovery section in the Play tab, scroll down to Game Collections, and select “Cuddles and Chaos.” Here, they can see featured “Exceptional Creature Games,” which currently consist of Sidekick Wars and Sidekick Masters, as well as “Creatures Standouts,” which include Astropets Tycoon, Pets vs Brainrots, and much more.
