Lian Li Uni Fan Flex: LCD and control options

Lian Li has released a new line of PC case fans dubbed the Uni Fan Flex series. It’s an offshoot of Lian Li’s Uni Fan lineup, and to be exact, there’s four models of 120mm fans to be found here with the new product line: the TL Flex, SL-INF Flex, and LCD variants for both of them.

The main differentiator between the Flex and the regular Uni Fans are the Flex Receivers, which expand the number of fan control options. The receiver is powered by two 12V PWM headers, and allows you to control lighting and fan speeds via L-Connect 3 or motherboard sync.

For the L-Connect 3 mode, you’ll need an L-Wireless Controller if you’re using multiple fans (bundled in with the three-fan TL and SL-INF Flex packs, but bought separately for the single packs and LCD variants). For motherboard sync, you’ll need to connect a 5V 3-pin ARGB cable into the Flex Receiver to control lighting.

The LCD variants feature a 1.8-inch screen in the centre of the fan.

The LCD Flex fans step it up with a third connectivity option: USB. The Flex Receivers bundled in with the LCD variants can be connected with a USB 2.0 header, which allows you to customise the 400 x 400, 60Hz LCD screen. These screens are also 1.8-inch, slightly larger than a standard Uni Fan TL LCD’s 1.6-inch.

The USB Mode on the LCD fans enables more advanced features such as the ability to playback GIFs and MP4s, but even if you don’t want to use USB, the fans have 512MB of onboard flash storage, letting you load preset backgrounds and system dashboards via L-Connect 3.

As for the actual ‘fan’ part of the Uni Fan Flex series, the TL Flex fans utilise liquid crystal polymer (or LCP) fan blades, with a maximum fan speed of 2600 RPM and 90.1 CFM of airflow. The SL-INF Flex fans top out at 2300 RPM and 67 CFM, but are a bit more stylish thanks to the side lighting.

Availability and Pricing

The Uni Fan Flex series is available in black or white, and comes in either a single or triple pack. Here’s the prices for all four fan variants:

  • TL Flex: US$30.99 (single) / US$99.99 (triple)
  • TL LCD Flex: US$48.99 (single) / US$134.99 (triple)
