Pals make the world go ‘round in Palworld, and you’ll want a good team of them to keep things going at your base. Each Pal has different “work suitability” skills, meaning that some may mine rocks whereas others may water crops. You want a diverse group of Pals to keep things going, but you don’t want them to be too diverse. To help you out, we’ve compiled a list of the best Pals for your base.
You’ll quickly realize that when you have a Pal who does a lot of different things, like Penking, who has many base skills, they get distracted and don’t actually do the task you want them to do. While you may want Penking to mine, he might run off to water crops. To fix this, you can build a monitoring stand once you hit level 7, allowing you to assign Pals to specific stations.
Below, we list out several Pals that are good in mid-game and late-game for the tasks you’ll need the most. (Early-game, you can functionally just make do with whatever you find around the map.) We also list where to find them or what to breed to get them, if they’re tricky to find. Most Pals have multiple locations to find them and dozens of breeding combinations, but we tried to list the easiest locations and combos. (We have a guide on the fastest flying mount, if you’re looking for that kind of thing.)
Best base Pals for each job in Palworld
Here’s a quick list of the best base Pals for each job in Palworld:
- Solenne (Handiwork)
- Renjishi (Kindling)
- Aegidron (Mining)
- Shaolong (Watering)
- Orserk (Generating Electricity)
- Dandilord (Planting)
- Jetragon (Gathering)
- Celesdir Noct (Lumbering)
- Silvance (Medicine Production)
- Bastigor (Cooling)
- Knocklem (Transporting)
Note that most of these Pals are mostly locked to the endgame World Tree area. To get there, you’ll need to complete the story, defeat all eight tower bosses, and continue on with the instructed story.
It should be said that I don’t really use the “best” Pals for my personal base. While some tasks, like Watering, Handiwork, and Generating Electricity are very necessary, I only use mid-tier Pals for things like Medicine Production, Gathering, and Cooling, which seem to have less of a demand while making late-game items.
Though the above picks are endgame choices, we also detail some mid-game choices for you to find around the world, since you won’t be able to get the best of the best until later in the game. Note that there are a lot of Pals to pick from and our mid-game picks are chosen based on which have higher work skill levels, while also being accessible.
You can read more of an explanation on where to find these Pals and why we picked them below.
Best Pals for Handiwork in Palworld
You’ll need Pals with Handiwork to help you craft items and make new structures. Some late-game items and structures take a long time to craft and if you don’t want to stand around for three minutes holding down a single button, then you need some guys to help you craft.
Best mid-game Pal for Handiwork: Anubis
- Skill levels: Handiwork 6, Mining 6, Transporting 4
Anubis is really useful as it’s multi-functional, being able to both mine and help you craft. We recommend just nabbing the Alpha Anubis in the central desert area, but there’s also some on Sandstone Gate Islet (northwest of Feybreak Island), but the Alpha in the desert will be easier to grab. The Alpha Anubis in the desert is level 55 — which is a smidgen higher than what we’d consider “mid-game,” but it is so useful that we do recommend nabbing this as soon as you’re able to.
Best endgame Pal for Handiwork: Solenne
- Breeding combinations: Frostallion + Blazamut
- Skill levels: Handiwork 8, Gathering 4, Transporting 2
Solenne has the highest level Handiwork in the game, making her pretty great for crafting items in your base. She is, however, mostly locked to the endgame World Tree area, in the green area on the west side. You can also breed her using some of the higher-level Pals you can find on the Palpagos Islands.
Best Pals for Kindling in Palworld
Pals with Kindling help you smelt ingots and cook food. They’ll also power any heaters you have. You’ll want faster smelting speeds later on in the game, as you need tons of ingots and you’ll want a constant supply of them coming in.
Best mid-game Pal for Kindling: Pyrin
- Breeding combination: Ribbuny + Relaxaurus
- Skill levels: Kindling 4, Lumbering 2
You can nab Pyrin in the wild from the areas with lava pools on Mount Obsidian. These things are roaming around just about everywhere, sometimes in packs, but also sometimes alone.
Best endgame Pal for Kindling: Renjishi
- Breeding combination: Blazamut + Jormuntide Ignis
- Skill levels: Kindling 8, Handiwork 6, Gathering 5, Transporting 5
Renjishi is the best Kindling Pal available, though again, it’s locked to the very endgame World Tree area, as an Alpha Pal, deep within the cavernous area in the northeast of the World Tree. You can, however, get it a bit earlier by breeding a Blazamut and Jormuntide Ignis.
Best Pals for Mining in Palworld
Mining Pals will help you farm all the ore deposits you’ll need. These Pals are especially important, as these resources will be your main ingredient for advanced Pal spheres and ammo.
Best mid-game Pal for Mining: Blazamut
- Skill levels: Kindling 6, Mining 7
These are among the best Mining Pals in the game, and you can actually find them at a much lower level than you would think. They’re in the mid-40s, and you can find them on Flamepulse Islet to the east of the large desert area. If you do want a meatier one, there’s a level 52 Alpha version on Mount Obsidian.
Best endgame Pal for Mining: Aegidron
- Breeding combinations: Frostallion + Jetragon
- Skill levels: Mining 8
Just like Renjishi, Aegidron is another Pal that can really only be found as an Alpha in the endgame World Tree area. You can find it along the southwestern path, though it’ll look like a tent when you first approach it. It’ll open up to reveal its regular form during combat. It is the best miner in the game, but if you don’t want to go through the trouble, sticking with Blazamut isn’t a bad choice.
