Later this week, MagicCon Amsterdam will bring tons of news on Magic: The Gathering’s next two expansions, August’s The Hobbit and October’s in-universe Reality Fracture. Today, Wizards of the Coast kicked off MagicCon week with a look further into the future and into deep space, as multiple cards from November’s Star Trek set were revealed, including a set of Headliner cards that boldly go where no Magic card has ever gone before: authentic autographs.
The Star Trek set, which encompasses all 60 years of the franchise’s history, will feature seven Headliner cards–premium variants of cards from the main expansion that only appear in Collector Booster packs–that not only feature seven of Star Trek’s most iconic characters, but also the autographs of the actors who played them. Two of the seven Headliners (pictured below without signatures) were revealed during the livestream–Captain James T. Kirk signed by William Shatner, and Captain Kathryn Janeway signed by Kate Mulgrew–while principal art designer Tom Jenkot revealed that “a little north of 200” of each Headliner will be available in Star Trek Collector Boosters.
