Homemade wanton mee that tastes like your favourite hawker stall 🍜 No queue, just springy noodles, juicy wantons and that addictive black sauce. Save this recipe for your next homemade hawker night 👇 Wanton Mee Black Sauce • 10 tbsp thick soy sauce • 4 tbsp light soy sauce • 5 tbsp oyster sauce • 200ml water • 5 tbsp sugar • 8 tbsp onion oil • 2 tbsp sesame oil • 1 tsp salt • 1 tsp white pepper Combine everything, bring to a boil for 5–10 minutes, then let it simmer down. Toppings ✔ Xiao Bai Cai (blanched with oil + salt) ✔ Char Siew ✔ Homemade Wantons ✔ Chicken broth served with the wantons, topped with spring onions and fried onions ✔ Chilli (optional) Method 1. Make the black sauce and simmer for 5–10 minutes. 2. Blanch Xiao Bai Cai and drain well. 3. Add sauce to your serving bowl and plate the vegetables nicely. 4. Cook the noodles till springy, then toss thoroughly in the sauce (follow the technique in the video). 5. Top the noodles with char siew and chilli. Serve boiled wantons in chicken broth on the side. 6. Finish the wanton soup with spring onions and fried onions.
